Adobe Captivate 2019 - Automatic Device Preview

Hi, welcome to our training tutorials series on new and advanced features of Adobe Captivate 2019. In this video we are going to see Automatic Device Preview feature in Adobe Captivate 2019. So let’s get started.

In our previous version of Adobe Captivate we have seen that the device preview options can be selected from Layout Preview drop down boxes. You can preview how the content is scaling up by selecting the appropriate preview size from the list of pre-defined devices.

But in Adobe Captivate 2019, besides drop down list, there is another option, Automatic Device Preview. So by clicking on that button you can see how the content is automatically aligning to the different screen sizes.

You can even select wrap options for the fluid boxes from the properties inspector. Then, click on layout preview option to check the new wrapping behavior.

Adobe Captivate 2019 Automatic Chroma Key Effects

In this Adobe Captivate 2019 training tutorials video, we are going to see Automatic Chroma key Effects. This feature allows you edit Chroma key options to personalize the background for your videos.

After Launching Adobe Captivate 2019 tool, select Video Demo under the New tab. Then click on Create. Here you can see your webcam video on your right and the settings in the left side panel. You can configure the Screen Capture Area and Recording Audio Type settings. Now to change the background, click on Change Background button in the right side of the capturing panel. Then it shows Take my Snapshot button to take the picture of yours. Make sure that the wall you are sitting should be a solid wall or you can arrange a blue screen or green screen behind you for the perfect keying. Then, draw a vertical line from your head to the bottom and draw a horizontal line across the shoulders. You can adjust the marker at the non-selected areas till you satisfy. Once you are done selecting, click on I am fully selected button. Then, click on My preview looks good button once you are satisfied. Click anywhere on the preview to change the background. The Checker board background indicates that it is a transparent background and uses your desktop screen as a background.

After configuring all your settings, click on Record button. Here you can see your recording as well as capturing screen. This assists in giving information about the tool you are using or the training you are giving. Once you are done recording, you can preview the recording.

Here you can see that your background is transparent over the top of the captured video. Even you can edit the video in terms of its position and size.

Adobe Captivate 2019 - 360⁰ Learning Experiences

In this Adobe Captivate 2019 tutorial video, we are going to see 360 degree learning experience.

This feature allows you to incorporate 360 images in your 2D adobe captivate projects to experience the 360 degree learning along with the PowerPoint slides, interaction slides, etc.

To begin with, click on Slide and choose 360 slide from the drop-down menu. Then, click on plus icon in the editing stage. Click on import button and select the 360 image from the local computer.

You can drag the image with the mouse to view it in 360 mode. Then, click on Hotspot button and select anyone from the drop-down menu. Now assign an action to the hotspot from the On Click drop down list in the properties inspector. Then move the image and add a hotspot and assign another action same as previous one.

You can guide the learner in the project, so that user can view the hotspots in a sequential order as you place them in the editing stage.

You can also add text label directly on the screen. You can custom the label with different colors and highlights from the properties inspector.

Adobe Captivate 2019 Smart Video Recording

In this Adobe Captivate 2019 training tutorial video, we are going to see Smart video recording. This feature allows you to record screen capture and the webcam recording simultaneously.

Convert PowerPoint into Responsive eLearning in Adobe Captivate 2019

In this Adobe Captivate 2019 training tutorials video we are going to see importing PowerPoint in Responsive courses. So let’s get started.

Earlier, you had an option to import the powerpoint only in blank courses, but now you can import the PowerPoint into responsive courses. To do so, click on the slides option in the toolbar and select PowerPoint from the drop-down menu. Then, click on OK. This will open a dialog box to import PowerPoint from your local computer. Select the PowerPoint you wish to include and click on Open.

Here you can see a Slide Preview popup where you can select or deselect the slides you wish to import from the PowerPoint. Also you can select the slide navigation options as On mouse click or Automatically from the Advance slide. Select any one option and click on OK.

Here you can see the progress of converting your PowerPoint slides into mobile ready courses.

Here you can see the responsive PowerPoint by dragging the Preview Slider to and fro. You can observe how the content is scaling up automatically across the screen sizes.

Adobe Captivate 2019 - Overlay Slides

Hi, welcome to Adobe Captivate 2019 training tutorials series on new and advanced features of Adobe Captivate 2019. In this video we are going to see Overlay slide feature in Adobe Captivate 2019. So let’s get started.

To begin with, create a few interactivities in your course as shown in the filmstrip. Then, add a video by clicking on to the Interactive Video in the toolbar. That will open Insert Video popup to import the video. You can import YouTube video by entering the link in the given URL field. Else, you can browse and import the video from your local computer. Select the desired video and click on open and then click OK to proceed further.

Once importing the video, you can see a playhead on the timeline. Drag the playhead on the timeline where you wish to add your overlay slides. Then, click on the Insert Overlay icon. That will opens an Overlay popup. Choose the required slide to use it as overlay and click on Insert button.

To add another Overlay slide you can drag the Playhead on the timeline to different place and follow the same steps. You can even move the inserted overlay slide by dragging it to the different time on the timeline. To Replace the inserted overlay slide, hover-over the inserted overlay icon and click on Replace Overlay Slide option. This will bring Overlay Popup where you can replace the overlay slide. If you wish to remove any overlay slide, you can click on Unlink Overlay Slide option.

Adobe Captivate 2019 Live Device Preview for Virtual Reality (VR)

In this Adobe Captivate 2019 tutorial video, we are going to see Live Device Preview for VR. This feature lets you preview the responsive courses as well as VR courses in mobile devices through a scan by using QR scanner app.

First, let’s see how to preview the responsive courses in your device. Import a responsive course in Adobe Captivate 2019 tool. Click on Preview option and select Live Preview on Device from the drop-down menu. It will generate a QR code where you need to scan through QR scanner app in your mobile device. This allows you to view the course in your device. Then click on play button to preview the course. Once establishing the connection between captivate tool and your device, the changes that are made in your course will be reflected in your mobile device too.
For example, here you can see a fluid box with blue color. Let’s change its color. Now preview your course. You can observe the changes that are reflected in your mobile device.

Now, let’s see how to preview the VR courses. Import Virtual Reality course in captivate 2019. Click on Preview option and select Live Preview on Device from the drop-down menu. It will generate a QR code where you need to scan through QR scanner app in your mobile device. Then, click on Virtual Reality icon to experience 360 degree learning in your mobile device. Make sure that your device and the system should be in the same network to preview your courses.

Adobe Captivate 2019 Interactive Videos - Convert videos into Interactive using overlay slides

In this Adobe Captivate 2019 tutorial video we are going to see interactive video feature. This feature lets you convert your normal mp4 videos or demonstration videos or any YouTube videos into interactive videos using overlay slides.

Adobe Captivate 2019 Tutorial - Fluid Boxes 2.0

Hi, welcome to our Adobe Captivate 2019 training tutorials on new and advanced features. In this video we are going to see Fluid boxes feature in Adobe Captivate 2019 release. So let’s get started.

As a first step, you need to add fluid boxes to the project. So, select fluid box in the toolbar and choose horizontal or vertical boxes to your project as you required.

The size of the box can be changed by dragging the blue arrows provided in between the boxes. As an alternative, you can change it in the properties inspector too.

To do so, click on Properties and select the fluid box. Then, select the Position tab. You can choose Percentage or Pixel from the drop down to change the size of the fluid box. You can also manually enter the height and width of the fluid box.

Besides Preview slider and Device Preview option, here you have an automatic device preview option to preview the content with a single click. Here you can see how the content automatically scales up and wrap up across the device sizes.

There is a unique mechanism in the selection of fluid boxes. The orange color label box on the top left corner indicates parent fluid box and below to that, the blue label indicates child fluid box. To select the parent fluid box you need to click on the orange label.
The selected fluid box will have a blue outline and blue label on the top left corner and the same will be reflected in the properties panel. But when you hover-over any fluid box, you can see a green outline, green highlight and green label of the respective box and vice-versa.

In the earlier version, you used to switch the tab for fill option. But in this version, you can fill the fluid box below to fluid box section.

You can customize the flow of the content using the content flow option. Layout Preview option will be provided even in the properties inspector to check the flow of the content across the device sizes.

In this slide, you can see different tabs with different sizes and to align these 3 fluid boxes equally you have an option “Distribute Objects Equally”. When we click on this button, you can see the boxes distributed equally.

In the previous version of Adobe Captivate, there was a default alignment for static fluid boxes. But in this updated version, you can customize horizontal and vertical alignment of static fluid boxes.

Virtual Reality Feature in Adobe Captivate 2019

In this Adobe Captivate 2019 training tutorial video, we are going to see Virtual Reality feature. This feature allows you a new dimension of viewing experience of eLearning courses where you will learn it by turning your heads.

As a first step, select Virtual Reality project under the New tab in the launch screen of Adobe Captivate 2019 tool. Then, click on Create to work on virtual reality project. Now, click on the button to import 360 images from your local computer or from the assets folder in the tool.

You can drag the image by holding left button of your mouse to view the image in 360 degree. You can add text label to your scene or Hotspots. Hotspot provides an interaction to the user. Select any hotspot and double click on it to open the properties inspector. You can see On click drop-down to select the various interactions from that menu. Say for example, let’s select Display text from that list. You can write a short description given in the text field. Let’s add another hotspot to the scene. I am going to select Play Audio this time from the On click drop-down menu. Browse the audio from the local computer and add it to the hotspot. Now, you can Guide your user as per the order you have added hotspot to the scene.

You can use Hotspots even to add quiz questions to the scene. Click on Add Questions in the properties inspector. Here, you can insert questions in two ways, either Multiple Choice or True or False. Select as many questions you wish to add to the scene and click on Ok.

You can simply type the question in “Type the question here” field and answers in the “type the answer here” field.

Then publish the course to view the output. User can rotate the screen in 360 degree view. Let’s click on the hotspot. The text is displayed on the screen. Here you can observe that the user is guided to the next available hotspot automatically. This is the question hotspot where user need to answer questions. For the correct answer, the feedback is displayed automatically on the screen. Then click on Continue button to move forward.

CSV Question Import Template in Adobe Captivate 2019 - Import questions using CSV files
